Keep going...second challenge!

KEEP AWAY FROM THE MOOR

Dr. Mortimer insisted that this demonic black dog was neither a wild nor a local animal. He also claimed: “Before dying sir Charles Baskerville had stood at the end of the gate for five or ten minutes. Then, he tiptoed out in the direction of the moor”. Holmes was confused, he didn’t understand why Sir Charles would have done that. Dr. Mortimer added: “I need your advice about what to say to Sir Henry Baskerville, the new heir to the estate, who’s soon coming to London. He has no idea about Hugo Baskerville's horrible crimes committed three centuries ago or about the curse of the dog that Hugo brought back on his descendants”. Holmes replied: “If the devil is really chasing after him, staying in London will not keep him safe. Moreover, no one should say anything to Sir Henry about the hound without my permission”

At ten o’clock the next morning, Dr. Mortimer visited Sherlock with Sir Henry Baskerville. Sir Henry was a smart-looking guy in his thirties. He was glad to meet Holmes because he had just had a weird experience: “I received an anonymous note at my hotel this morning. The note said, « As you value your life keep away from the moor». Holmes immediately figured out that the words from the note were cut out of the Times. Having heard these strange facts, Holmes decided to tell Sir Henry about the hound and Sir Charles's sudden and mysterious death. Sir Henry was not surprised, he had heard the story of the hound when he was a kid, but never believed it. After the meeting he went back to the hotel and Holmes and Watson followed him at a distance. That’s when they spotted another man tailing Sir Henry from a taxi. The man had a thick beard and piercing eyes. As soon as Holmes saw the man, he yelled at the taxi driver to drive on.

Why did sir Charles wait ten minutes at the end of the gate that night? Is the man that Holmes saw part of the mystery?

HYPOTHESIS N° 1

Sir Charles stopped there because he was waiting for someone. The person who left the note was an educated person who wanted to appear working-class. The man who Holmes saw was hidden into the taxi.
