HOLMES’S PLAN
Watson and Holmes had to find a way to incriminate Stapleton. For this reason, they decided to leave Sir Henry alone at Baskerville Hall, pretending that they had to go back to London. They actually met Lestrange, a police agent. With his help, they watched what Sir Henry and Stapleton were doing through the dining room window. They were sitting there smoking when they saw sir Henry leaving.
As soon as he left a black hound ran after him and bit him. However, Holmes was able to kill the dog before it could seriously harm Sir Henry. Sir Henry was shocked, Holmes was very sorry about the danger he had exposed Sir Henry to, but it was inevitably necessary. The detective could now carry out his plan: he found Beryl and forced her to reveal where Stapleton was so that they could find him. The following morning, Holmes and Watson went looking for him, but they were not able to find him. Holmes deducted that Stapleton had slipped into the river never to emerge again.
